CO - HOUSE
In the context of the Spanish island of Mallorca, Co-House is a project that aims to provide a special retreat for those who decide to settle away from a big metropolis. A space created for people to sleep, work, and socialize in the same area. The design challenge was to create a space that honours the island’s beauty while providing the innovations of 21st-century architecture.
Marés Sandstone and lime mortar are the protagonists of the project. Local materials that render the exterior of the building. The walls are allowed to breathe and reflect solar radiation, naturally regulating the indoor temperature against the Mediterranean heat.
A rooster crowing. A slow walk. A breakfast to the sound of chirping of birds. Finally, in this setting of a relaxed Spanish island, the shared working area aims to be a sanctuary where disconnecting is a strategy for deep, focused work. It is the architectural take showing that hustle culture can be approached at the pace of the Mediterranean.
